Here are some earlier Tom Swift books, this time from the twenties. Tom Swift books were a series of science fiction adventure novels published between 1910 and the 2007, numbering over 100. They were written by "Victor Appleton" which was a pseudonym for numerous ghost writers over the life of the series. Tom was usually a teenager, who was very scientifically inclined and inventive. Many of the inventions in the books directly inspired actual ones, including the TASER, which is an acronym for "Thomas A. Swift's Electric Rifle".

There's always room in my life for a little more of the beloved Swiss writer and illustrator Roger Duvoisin, so here is what I found around the web this morning.

MCM getaway
Want to go glamping? What better way to experience the wild than ensconced safely in a cool mid-century modern style A-frame cabin ? Far meadow is 14 miles above Bass Lake in the Sierra National Forest, close to Yosemite National Park. It sits on 20 acres of private land, surrounded by a beautiful meadows and streams. There are two A-frames available to rent at $275 per night, each sleeping 2-4 with a sleeping loft. A friend and I were going to book their vintage trailer "lodge" where you get two trailers in which to sleep, cook, and hang out, but were not able to get it together. The trailers are not currently listed on the Far Meadows site, but it was a great idea, I've included photos anyway. Bring your dog, it's allowed!
