Orla Kiely's London home
The textile designer proves that the mid-century modern sensibility that comes through in her creations runs deep. She nicely mixes modern touches with the Victorian bones of her terrace house. Via Dwell.com.

MCM getaway
Want to go glamping? What better way to experience the wild than ensconced safely in a cool mid-century modern style A-frame cabin ? Far meadow is 14 miles above Bass Lake in the Sierra National Forest, close to Yosemite National Park. It sits on 20 acres of private land, surrounded by a beautiful meadows and streams. There are two A-frames available to rent at $275 per night, each sleeping 2-4 with a sleeping loft. A friend and I were going to book their vintage trailer "lodge" where you get two trailers in which to sleep, cook, and hang out, but were not able to get it together. The trailers are not currently listed on the Far Meadows site, but it was a great idea, I've included photos anyway. Bring your dog, it's allowed!
Forgotten Modern: California Houses 1940-1970
My brother Robbie gave me this book one fine Christmas a few years ago. When I opened it and gazed at what was inside, my heart quickened. What I found was image after image of dramatic but warm mid-century modern houses built by such less-remembered architects as Edward Fickett (who designed my neighborhood), Jack Hillmer and William Krisel. Here's a look .
